In a world filled with noise and chaos, our words carry a weight that can either uplift or tear down. The Apostle Paul, in Colossians 4:6, reminds us to let our speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt. This instruction is not merely about what we say but how we communicate the truths of God’s love and wisdom to those around us. When we speak with grace, we embody the very essence of Christ, who was full of grace and truth (John 1:14).

The message of grace is beautifully intertwined with the parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25:1–13. This parable teaches us about preparedness and the importance of being wise in our actions. Just as the five wise virgins brought extra oil to keep their lamps burning, we, too, must be prepared with the right words that reflect God’s love and wisdom in our conversations. Our speech should not only be seasoned with salt, implying the preservation of truth, but also infused with grace, which makes our words palatable to the hearts and minds of others.

In this season of life, we are called to reflect on how we communicate. Are we using our words to build up or to break down? Are we prepared in our speech to share the hope of Christ with those who are lost in darkness? Just as the wise virgins were ready for the bridegroom when He came, we must be ready to share the grace of God in every interaction.

When we speak with grace, we invite others into the light of Christ. Our words can illuminate the path for someone who is struggling, just as the lamps of the wise virgins illuminated the way for the bridegroom. Each conversation is an opportunity to be a vessel of God’s love, a chance to reflect His light in a world that often feels dim.

Let us commit to being wise in our speech, ensuring that our conversations are filled with grace and seasoned with salt. As we go about our day, let us remember that every interaction is significant. Let us ask ourselves: How can I show grace in my words today? How can I prepare my heart and mind to respond wisely to those around me?

**Self-Assessment Questions:**

1. How do I currently approach my conversations with others? Are my words seasoned with grace?

2. In what ways can I be more intentional about preparing my heart to speak wisely like the five wise virgins?

3. How can I practice speaking grace into a challenging situation I might face today?

May our words reflect the wisdom and grace of our Lord, guiding others toward the everlasting light.
