In the light of resurrection, we find our purpose.

As we reflect on the profound truth of 1 Corinthians 15:4, we are reminded of the pivotal event that reshaped history: Jesus’ death and glorious resurrection. He was buried, and on the third day, He rose again, fulfilling the prophecies and securing our salvation. This central truth of our faith is not just a historical event; it is a promise of hope and renewal for all who believe.

In Matthew 25:1–13, Jesus tells the parable of the ten virgins, illustrating the importance of being prepared for the coming of the Bridegroom. Five were wise, and five were foolish. The wise virgins took oil in their vessels along with their lamps, while the foolish ones did not. When the Bridegroom arrived, only those with oil were ready to enter the wedding feast. The significance of this parable resonates deeply with the message of the resurrection. Just as the wise virgins prepared themselves for the arrival of the Bridegroom, we too must prepare our hearts and lives for the return of Christ, who triumphed over death.

The resurrection of Jesus is the ultimate assurance that we serve a living Savior. It calls us to be vigilant and to fill our lives with spiritual oil—the oil of faith, hope, and love. This oil represents our relationship with Christ, cultivated through prayer, reading His Word, and living out His teachings. When we nurture this relationship, we are equipped to shine brightly in a world filled with darkness, ready to welcome the return of our Lord.

As we live in the light of His resurrection, let us not become complacent like the foolish virgins. Instead, may we actively seek to deepen our faith and fill our hearts with the oil of His presence. The resurrection compels us to live wisely, making choices that reflect our commitment to Christ. We are called not just to await His return but to actively engage in His work, being vessels of His love and grace.

Today, let us ask ourselves:

1. Are there areas in my life where I am unprepared for Christ’s return?

2. How can I cultivate a deeper relationship with Jesus to ensure I have the spiritual oil I need?

3. In what ways can I share the hope of the resurrection with those around me?

As we ponder these questions, may we be inspired by the victory of the resurrection to live wisely, prepared and filled with the oil of faith, ready to meet our Savior when He comes.
